30 pound champion

Hayley can walk! She can take up to 8 steps at a time unassisted! That's really great because her neurologist said that if she didn't start walking this year then she probably wasn't gonna. And its not even February yet. Her feet are still crooked and she absolutely despises her leg braces, but as soon as she gets used to them she should be walking better and more.

this is something

my geology teacher saw me reading Quest for the African Dinosaurs and he was like "Hey, that Louis Jacobs guy is a friend of mine." and I was like "Can you get me his autograph" and he was all like "Yeah, if you make an A on the lab test" and I was like "Totally". So now I have to go study 48 minerals and learn to identify them.

I'm in school now! Yay! I like to play this game like I'm a REAL college student going to a REAL university. I stay up late and read my books and takes notes and try to memorize things like it matters. Then, when test day comes I try to pretend like the test is really hard. I read all the answers (they're usually multi choice) and I make a serious face like I have to think. Afterwards, I pretend not to be disappointed that the hardest one was that "Name" space. The best part is when the grades come back. It's a nice ego trip to have the highest grade in the class even if all the other people are morons.
I'm taking Geology this year and I'm hoping its a bit more difficult than Biology was. I already read the first chapter and it doesn't look like much harder, but the teacher guy is assigning two papers and that's got me all excited. An article review AND a research paper! I also have an article review for Government and another paper for my Art History class. That's four papers! In Algebra, we're going to learn about the nth degree! Finally! I've been wondering all these years what that meant in the back of my book and now I shall know. Most of my High School career was spent in government charter schools and they never offer anything above Algebra 1. That's why I had to take so many remedial maths when I got to college. I took Algebra 2 over a summer semester with the local public school system, but most of the kids were juvenile delinquents and we spent a lot of time doing community service. It's not fair that they make everyone do that, they should single out the criminal kids and have them do their own restitution. And post their names so the rest of us can taunt them.
I'm taking an expedition into the bookstore next week. I need to buy about 6 scantrons and a passcode for the Algebra internet homework thing. For this, I will stand in line for 3 hours or more and hopefully they will still be recognizing the funds attached to my student ID. Otherwise, I will have suffered for naught.

school day

Today is the first day of school. I have to go to Government class in a few minutes. I had the same teacher last semester and he was okay. He's one of those guys that apologizes for how boring his subject is and makes the assignments really easy to amend for his dullness. My Government textbook kicks ass!! It's the coolest textbook I've ever had. It wasn't written with a bunch of extra words and roundabout sentence structures like the rest of my books and (this is the best part) the authors pulled all the bold-type "keywords" out into the margin and defined them right there. I don't have to run to the glossary everytime I come across some governemntal jargon. Isn't that thoughtful?
I'm having a fight with my dad. He's having a power trip. He said he's the only one that ever does any work in his house and that everything in the house belongs to him and no one else can use it because he paid for it. That's funny... I could've sworn I'd been going by every Sunday and cleaning and cooking and doing all kinds of domestic goodness. I guess I must've been hallucinating. So I didn't go yesterday. And I took all the crap he's been storing in my house and threw it all over the yard. I kind of feel better.
Ooooooh.. at the end of the month I am officially vacating my apartment. I am so excited! See, my property managers are great big pricks. They had me sign this lease agreement that they wrote and then tried to hold me to all the terms while completely slacking off on their responsibilities as outlined by the contract they created. So I painted the master bedroom dark purple. I wanted to put fish in the walls or something but I can't afford fish. So dark purple master bedroom it is! This is the first time I've moved from somewhere without expecting (or desiring) my deposit back. I don't think a measly $100 is going to prime and re-paint that bedroom anyway. I was planning on doing it myself; I have primer and 4 gallons of off-white paint. Oops! I must've just forgot. Yeah, I am quite a bit passive-agressive, but I like it.

no, i do not want to add my school

My school offers a scholarship to students with a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0. Its like a scholarship for dumb people. "Oh, no! If I don't fail this class I may lose my scholarship!"
